Practical guide

Create a summary you can check against the source

Use an AI summarizer to identify the main points

This AI summarizer turns supplied text into a shorter version for review. It works from the passage you paste or import, rather than searching the web for additional information. Choose bullet points for separate takeaways or a paragraph for a connected overview, then select a target length. The result remains editable so you can correct emphasis or restore a detail that matters.

An article summary can help you prepare reading notes; a report summary can give colleagues an overview before they read the full document. You can also summarize meeting notes or a long explanation. The source needs enough context to stand on its own. If a table, footnote or earlier section changes the meaning, include that information or keep the summary explicitly limited to the supplied excerpt.

Choose a summary format and length for the reader

Bullet points work well when the source has distinct decisions, findings or actions. A paragraph is more useful when the relationship between ideas matters. Short, Standard and Detailed request approximately 15%, 25% and 40% of the source length. These are targets for the model, not exact word-count guarantees. Very short inputs may not have much to compress.

Review supporting passages, not just a fluent summary

The result includes up to six supporting source passages. Every displayed quote is checked for an exact match in your input. Use those passages as a shortcut back to the material, then read the surrounding text to confirm that the summary represents it fairly. Matching a quote proves that the quoted words are present; it does not establish that the summary is complete or that the original source is true.

Check numbers, dates, attribution, uncertainty and exceptions. A summary of a proposal should still describe a proposal; a summary of a preliminary finding should retain that limitation. Source passages are not generated citations or independent fact-checks. When writing an essay or publishing a report, retain and cite the original source according to the requirements of your work.

An illustrative summary review

Source passage

The team proposed a June launch, subject to accessibility testing. No final date has been approved. Two customer trials are still running.

A summary that keeps the qualification

A June launch is proposed but unapproved, with accessibility testing and two customer trials still pending.
“The product launches in June” would overstate the source. Review the same kinds of qualification in your own result.

Prepare articles, documents and notes for summarizing

Paste a self-contained section or upload a supported document. Each request accepts up to 1,500 words and 12,000 characters; dense content may require a shorter excerpt. For a longer report, work section by section and retain the headings so each summary has a clear scope. Document import extracts text. A scanned PDF, a multi-column layout or a complex table may not produce a complete reading order.

Remove navigation text, duplicated headings and unrelated material before submitting. This page does not fetch article URLs, transcribe recordings or summarize video links. Once the text is ready, sign in to generate the summary. Review and edit the result before copying it, downloading TXT, Markdown or DOCX, or continuing into Humanizer for a separate wording pass.

Questions about ai summarizer

Can I summarize an article or a PDF?

Yes. Paste an article excerpt or import a supported document and review the extracted text first. Each request supports up to 1,500 words and 12,000 characters, with a further server limit for dense text. A scanned or complex PDF may need manual text preparation.

Can the summarizer open a website or a YouTube link?

No. It summarizes the text you supply and does not retrieve web pages, transcribe recordings or watch videos. Provide the relevant text yourself and include the context needed to interpret it.

Can I choose the summary length?

Short, Standard and Detailed target approximately 15%, 25% and 40% of the input length. Actual output length varies with the material. Choose bullets for distinct points or a paragraph for a connected explanation.

Are the summary’s supporting quotes checked?

Each displayed quote is checked for an exact match in your input. That confirms where the quoted words came from, not that the source is true or that the summary interprets it correctly. Read the surrounding passage and verify important claims separately.

Is a summary the same as a paraphrase?

No. A summary selects and condenses main points. A paraphrase restates a passage with broader coverage of its original details. Check that summarizing is appropriate when your task requires every condition, example or qualification to remain.

Does summarizing use my Humanizer word allowance?

No. It uses the AI Summarizer allowance: three uses per UTC day on Free and unlimited daily uses on Basic, Pro and Ultra, subject to request and input limits. Online summarizing requires sign-in.

Can I edit and download the result?

Yes. Edit the summary and copy it or export TXT, Markdown or DOCX. If you edit it, the tool reminds you that source passages refer to the generated version; they are not automatically revalidated for your edits. You can restore the generated summary. Source passages do not replace the citations your document may require.
