Practical guide
Proofread with control over every correction
A grammar checker for a deliberate proofreading pass
Use this free grammar checker to review grammar, spelling and punctuation in a passage you have already written. Paste your draft or import a document, sign in and run the check. Each suggestion includes the original wording, a proposed replacement and a short explanation. Corrections start unaccepted, so the first result keeps your source text intact.
This workflow suits an email before sending, an article before publication, an essay during revision or a report before circulation. Read each explanation in the context of the sentence. A suggested correction may be useful for standard prose but unsuitable for dialogue, a quotation, a product name or a specialist term. You decide which changes reach the final version.
Grammar, spelling and punctuation need context
The examples below illustrate the kinds of edits a proofreading pass may consider. They are written examples, not a promise that every run returns these exact suggestions. Some apparent mistakes are intentional; use the surrounding sentence and the audience’s expectations to make the decision.

| Review area | Draft wording | Possible correction |

| Subject–verb agreement | The results shows a change. | The results show a change. |

Accept a correction without handing over the whole draft
Start with errors that are clearly mechanical, such as a misspelling or a verb that does not agree with its subject. Then review changes involving tense, articles, punctuation or word choice more carefully. An article can change whether a statement is general or specific; punctuation can change how a quotation is read.
Select an underlined phrase to see its explanation, accept the correction or ignore the suggestion to keep your wording. Accept remaining applies only undecided edits. Choose All to revisit accepted and ignored suggestions, or Reset review to return to the original. The service checks that each suggestion refers to a unique source passage and that suggestions do not overlap. Those checks keep replacements attached to the right text; they do not guarantee that the model’s language judgment is correct.
- Check names, numbers, dates, negation and technical terms before accepting an edit.
- Keep the wording of direct quotations unless you are deliberately changing the quotation and its presentation.
- Read the finished paragraph again: individually reasonable edits still need to work together.
Grammar checking, humanizing and readability are different tasks
A grammar check focuses on correctness. Humanizing addresses phrasing, tone and sentence rhythm. Readability analysis measures aspects of reading effort. Use the grammar checker when your wording is mostly right and you want to review specific corrections; use Humanizer when a broader revision would help. Neither tool independently verifies the facts or citations in a draft.
For a longer document, check coherent sections of up to 1,500 words and 12,000 characters. Dense text may need a smaller section. Include enough surrounding prose to resolve pronouns and tense. Uploaded files are converted to text rather than preserving page layout, comments or tracked changes. After review, copy the result or download TXT, Markdown or DOCX and inspect it in the destination editor.

Questions about grammar checker
Is the grammar checker free to use?
Free accounts receive three Grammar Checker uses per UTC day. Sign-in is required for online processing. Basic, Pro and Ultra have unlimited daily uses, subject to request and input limits. This allowance is separate from Humanizer monthly words.
Will grammar corrections apply automatically?
No. Suggestions start in To review. Select a highlighted phrase, then accept the correction or ignore it to keep your wording. All shows earlier decisions so you can undo them. Accept remaining applies only undecided suggestions; ignored edits stay unchanged. Reviewing suggestions does not use another check.
Is Grammar Checker the same as an AI humanizer?
No. Grammar Checker focuses on grammar, spelling and punctuation. An AI humanizer makes broader changes to phrasing, rhythm and tone. Use the tool that matches the editing task, and review important details after either kind of change.
How much text can I check at once?
Each request supports up to 1,500 words and 12,000 characters on every plan. Very dense text may need a shorter section. Longer documents can be reviewed as coherent sections with enough surrounding context for tense and pronouns.
Can the grammar checker make mistakes?
Yes. A suggestion can be wrong for a quotation, a name, a technical term or the intended meaning. Review explanations and retain wording that is deliberate. Matching a suggested edit to the source does not prove that the correction is right.
What happens to the text I submit?
Your text is sent to the configured writing service when you run the check. Results are temporarily cached for up to 24 hours to recover retries without duplicate charges. Review the privacy policy before submitting sensitive material.
Can I download the corrected document?
You can copy the reviewed text or export TXT, Markdown or a new DOCX. Import and export operate on extracted text, so the original file’s layout, images, comments and tracked changes are not preserved.
