Remove unwanted zero-width spaces, word joiners, soft hyphens, byte-order marks, and control characters.

Remove hidden characters, Markdown clutter, broken spacing, and copy-paste artifacts from AI-generated text—without changing your words.
What the AI text cleaner removes
AI chat windows and rich-text editors can add characters or syntax that look harmless until the text reaches an email, CMS, document, form, or codebase.
Remove unwanted zero-width spaces, word joiners, soft hyphens, byte-order marks, and control characters.
Turn headings, emphasis marks, code fences, and Markdown links into readable plain text when you choose that mode.
Normalize non-standard spaces, remove trailing whitespace, and reduce excess blank lines without flattening paragraphs.
Convert smart quotes, long dashes, and ellipses only when the destination requires plain ASCII punctuation.
Same message, cleaner surface
The tool follows explicit text rules. It does not paraphrase sentences, invent details, alter tone, or send your draft through another model.

Three deliberate modes
Removes invisible artifacts and fixes spacing while preserving Markdown and visible punctuation.
Adds Markdown cleanup for email, documents, CMS fields, forms, and platforms that do not render Markdown.
Lets you decide whether to normalize punctuation, join wrapped lines, or preserve individual formatting layers.
One clean copy, many destinations
Use the result wherever invisible characters, pasted styling, or Markdown syntax can create inconsistent output.
Remove stray headings, emphasis marks, and odd spacing before pasting into Gmail or Outlook.
Prepare predictable plain text before applying the destination’s own styles and components.
Keep paragraphs readable when moving drafts between AI tools, Google Docs, Word, and Notion.
Remove invisible Unicode and smart punctuation that can interfere with search, validation, JSON, or exact matching.
Clear about the limits
The free AI text cleaner removes characters and formatting it can identify directly. It does not remove statistical watermarks, establish authorship, or guarantee a lower AI detector score.
Use Safe clean for multilingual text, and check any optional punctuation changes before copying.
Practical guide
Paste a small representative section first and choose Safe clean when you want to keep visible formatting. Review the cleanup report before using a stronger mode. If the destination is a plain-text field, Plain text removes common Markdown syntax; Custom gives you control over optional punctuation and wrapped lines. The best setting depends on where you will paste the result.
For example, a newsletter editor may already handle bold text and links, while a support-ticket field may display Markdown markers literally. Code, quotations and citation text deserve a separate check before punctuation normalization. A plain ASCII quote and a typographic quote may look similar to a reader but behave differently in a program or an exact-text search.
Scroll sideways to see all columns.
| Destination | Starting point | Review before pasting |
|---|---|---|
| Plain email or form field | Plain text | Paragraph breaks, lists and the readable text of links. |
| Markdown editor | Safe clean | Keep the markup the editor is expected to render. |
| A field that requires ASCII punctuation | Custom | Enable only the punctuation conversions the destination needs. |
| A quotation, code sample or precise reference | Minimal cleanup | Check every visible change against the original. |
Removing hidden characters repairs the text surface. It will not correct subject–verb agreement, explain an unclear paragraph or make a claim more specific. Use Grammar Checker for a proofreading pass, Readability Checker for sentence complexity and AI Slop Remover for repetitive filler. Keeping these tasks separate makes it easier to see which operation changed your draft.
Document import extracts text locally and may omit images, comments or page styling. Review the import message and the first few paragraphs, especially for PDFs with columns or scans. After cleaning, keep an original copy and inspect the text in the destination app. You can download the result or use Continue in Humanizer when you explicitly want a further wording change.
Start with the cleaning options you actually need and inspect the preview. A hidden character is not proof of AI authorship. Some invisible characters support a language or an emoji sequence, so do not assume that every invisible code point is unwanted.
Compare the cleaned result with the source before copying. If the wording itself is vague, that is a separate editing task: carry the cleaned text to a compatible writing tool. Character cleanup does not certify authorship or guarantee a detector result.

Free users receive 3 cleanups per UTC day without signing in. Basic, Pro and Ultra have unlimited daily uses. Copying or exporting a result does not consume another use, and Humanizer word allowances are separate.
It removes unwanted hidden Unicode characters, non-standard spaces, trailing whitespace, excess blank lines, and—when you choose Plain text—common Markdown syntax.
No. The cleaner uses deterministic formatting rules and does not call a language model. It preserves your wording and meaning.
No. Cleaning happens locally in your browser. UltraHumanizer does not receive, store, or add your text to a database.
It can remove visible formatting artifacts and unwanted hidden Unicode sometimes described as watermarks. It cannot remove statistical watermarks or guarantee a different AI detection result.
The safe cleaner preserves emoji joiners and joining marks used by Arabic, Persian, Indic, and other scripts. Visible punctuation changes remain optional.
